چکیده

We extend the standard Kronig-Penney model with periodic δ potentials to the cases with generalized contact interactions under the assumption that the system has time-reversal symmetry. By applying Bloch theorem, the eigenvalue equation which determines the dispersion relation for onedimensional periodic array of the generalized contact interactions is deduced within the framework of the transfer matrix formalism. Some elementary results which indicate a specific nature of the standard model with δ potentials are shown. key words: quantum mechanics, one dimension, Kronig-Penney model, generalized contact interaction, wave function discontinuity, functional analysis

O ct 1 99 9 Some properties of the one - dimensional generalized point interactions ( a torso )

This text is a part of an unfinished project which deals with the generalized point interaction (GPI) in one dimension. We employ two natural parametrizations, which are known but have not attracted much attention, to express the resolvent of the GPI Hamiltonian as well as its spectral and scattering properties. It is also shown that the GPI yields one of the simplest models in which a non-triv...

The energy spectrum of complex periodic potentials of the Kronig-Penney type

We consider a complex periodic PT-symmetric potential of the Kronig-Penney type, in order to elucidate the peculiar properties found by Bender et al. for potentials of the form V = i(sin x)2N+1, and in particular the absence of anti-periodic solutions. In this model we show explicitly why these solutions disappear as soon as V (x) 6= V (x), and spell out the consequences for the form of the dis...

Suppression of localization in Kronig-Penney models with correlated disorder.

We consider the electron dynamics and transport properties of one-dimensional continuous models with random, short-range correlated impurities. We develop a generalized Poincare map formalism to cast the Schrodinger equation for any potential into a discrete set of equations, illustrating its application by means of a specific example. We then concentrate on the case of a Kronig-Penney model wi...

Computing the Density of States and Energy Bands of a 1-Dimensional Lattice Using Transfer Matrices

The Kronig-Penney model is typically used to compute the band structure and bound states of a periodic crystal. While the model allows analytical solutions, it does so by simplifying the potential to a periodic square potential. We present a method of using transfer matrices to compute energy bands in a 1-Dimensional lattice. This method does not involve the simplification required by the Kroni...

Band-gap structure and singular character of bounded one-dimensional multibarrier potential

The bounded one dimensional multibarrier potential shows signs of chaos, phase transition and a transmission probability of unity for certain values of its total length L and the ratio c of total interval to total width. Like the infinite Kronig-Penney system, which is arranged along the whole spatial region, the bounded multibarrier potential has a band-gap structure in its energy spectrum. Bu...
